“HOW DID OUR GARDENS GROW?”

 

A Study Day

Presented by Martin Heard, accredited lecturer of The Arts Society

At Harrietsham Village Hall

Wednesday 4th March 2020

at 10am for 10.30am

£32.00 per person, including coffee and lunch

Open to members and non-members of The Arts Society

 

This Study Day will explore the design, architecture and planting of gardens from the Tudor Knot gardens through the Arcadian Stuart gardens and into the gardens of the Sun King at Versailles as displayed in paintings, sketches and prints.

10.30-11.30 - Tudor gardens: 1485 - 1603 (Henry VII - Elizabeth I)

11.45-13.00 - Stuart Gardens: 1600-early 1700s

13.00 – 14.15: LUNCH

14.15-15.15 – The Gardens of Versailles
