Welcome to 2020
Sunday 05 January 2020

A Happy New Year to one and all! We hope you had a good Christmas and we look forward to seeing you soon.

If you are on Facebook, we have a group there (The Arts Society – Medway) which gives information about local events with opportunities to meet up informally to share some of these experiences. If you would like to join this closed group, please let Lou Jupp know.

We had our AGM in November when we elected our committee for 2020, including some new members – Liz Duckworth (Programme Secretary), Suki Calder (Visits) and Pat Lock, herself an artist, looking forward to helping with new activities. Welcome ladies – here’s to some fresh ideas! Annette Cooper will now take on Membership Secretary role. We said goodbye to three stalwarts on the committee - Margaret Huntly, Anne Skinner and Shirley Berry - you've earned a rest ladies - hope you continue to enjoy the society.

we all thoroughly enjoyed the October lecture - From Downton to Gatsby with Andrew Prince. I have never had so many people approach me to say what a great talk it was - we must get him back soon.

Ian Gledhill in November on 'The Magic of Pantomime' was very entertaining too - he certainly made us all laugh - even the non-panto fans... Looking back on 2019, I think the lectures were some of the most successful we have ever had - here's hoping 2020 will provide more of the same.

Our next lecture, the first for 2020, is by Julia Musgrave, and is about Salvador Dali, a surprisingly multi-talented man - I'm looking forward to learning more about him  - come join us on January 21st.

Our next Special Interest Day is not until 28 April, on Protest Art with Liz Strang.Think Banksy, Derek Jarman - and many more. Lou Jupp is the contact for Study/Special Interest Days.

We currently a visit to Chiddingstone Castle at the planning stage. It will be a spring trip - in order to take advantage of the Japanese Garden and Cherry Orchards. Suki Calder is working on them and details will be on the website as soon as they are available.

Thanks all for your continuing support.

We look forward to seeing you on 21st January, with Julia Musgrave on Dali..
